After working in international trade at a customs brokerage, I passed the Gyoseishoshi national examination and opened Gyoseishoshi JLS in Takarazuka, Hyogo. Having studied abroad in the UK, the US, and the Philippines as a student, I have a genuine understanding of the anxieties foreign nationals face when working and living in Japan. Alongside our specialty in immigration procedures, our office also handles licensing in the logistics and transportation sector. We have handled a great many cases that were previously refused — whether self-filed or handled by another office — and we focus in particular on analyzing the reason for refusal to build a successful reapplication strategy.

What is a "Gyoseishoshi"?
A Gyoseishoshi (Administrative Scrivener) is a national-licensed professional in Japan authorized to prepare and submit official documents to government offices, such as visa/residence status applications, on behalf of clients. The title is sometimes translated as "administrative lawyer," but the scope of practice differs from that of a licensed attorney (bengoshi), particularly regarding litigation.
Can a Gyoseishoshi handle visa and immigration procedures like a lawyer?
Yes. Gyoseishoshi who are registered as certified immigration specialists (shinsei shonin) are authorized to prepare and submit applications to the Immigration Services Agency on behalf of applicants, such as Certificates of Eligibility and status of residence applications. Please note that individual case outcomes depend on each applicant meeting the relevant requirements under Japanese immigration law.
What qualifications and experience does Mr. Yamaguchi have?
Mr. Yamaguchi passed the national Gyoseishoshi examination in FY2010 after working in international trade, including an overseas posting in Hong Kong.
