The amount and requirements were revised on October 1, 2026. Applying for MHLW subsidies is the work of a social insurance and labor consultant (sharoushi), so please ask your retained sharoushi whether your company qualifies.

The implementation guidelines were revised on October 1, 2026, so some details differ from earlier information.
Key Points (as published by the MHLW)
- Amount: JPY 200,000 when all requirements are met (JPY 250,000 if an additional measure is also implemented).
- Required measures: (1) appoint a person in charge of employment and labor management of foreign workers, and (2) provide work rules and in-house manuals in multiple languages. The additional measure is establishing a leave system for temporary return to the home country.
